Duck Day Quiz Answers

Class of 2010

Class of 2010

Did you enter our Quiz on Duck Race Day? If you did (and frankly, even if you didn’t) here as promised  are the answers – give yourself 2 points for a correct answer, 1 for a nearly right:

Q1 Methane is the greenhouse gas that has the biggest overall impact on climate change. It’s way more warming than Carbon Dioxide, but it doesn’t hang about in the atmosphere as long.

Q2  The earth’s average temperature is 15°C

Q3 Stretton Climate Care’s model house shows 13 different energy saving ideas.

Q4  The more of these ideas you can use in your own home, the more energy efficient it will be – and the more money you will save.

Q5  The Arctic is warming twice as fast as the rest of the world

Q6  Polar bears are struggling as their habitat is changing fast and the ice sheets are melting and they cannot adapt. In particular they find it difficult to hunt without ice sheets from which to dive.

Q7  Climate change may result in a number of potential changes that could affect the Duck Race in future years – including erratic rainfall, periods of drought, flooding which could result in changing the path of the stream or erosion due to heavy rains that could block the stream.  Even the River Severn will be affected, so poor little Carding Mill Valley is unlikely to be as perfect as it is today..

Q8 The water in the Carding Mill stream comes from the Long Mynd, where rainfall soaks into the soil, emerging as springs, small tributary streams and pools.

How did you rate?

0 – 7: Thanks for going in for the Quiz. You have learnt a lot!

8 – 12: You are clearly clued up about climate change issues and have probably asked for a home energy check from Stretton Climate Care already

13 – 16: You are a genius and may one day save the world

17 – 20: You are a cheat
