Never Mind the Gardens – Look at the Eco-Savings!

Saturday 21st August was Eco-day in Stretton, with people entering into the spirit of the occasion and biking or bussing to seven homes in the Stretton area to see how locals like them are saving money and waste by becoming more energy-efficient. The range of energy-saving opportunities on show was impressive, and the feedback was universally positive!

At one end we had Acton Scott Hall and at the other was a fascinating off-grid cottage below Caradoc; and in between was a wide range of houses with a wide range of energy saving characteristics from wood-chip boilers to photo-voltaic arrays via rainwater-harvesting, solar water heating and wind turbines. Some visitors came from far afield to see them, others lived locally.

Not everyone got to see all seven, so we’ll have to do it again next year – and by then there will be more homes to add to the list!
