Duck Race Threat Shock Drama

Duck Race Threat Shock Drama

Left High and Dry?

The Duck Race, Stretton’s most popular annual Bank Holiday event, may not be able to take place on May 28th – because there’s no water in Carding Mill Valley!

So far 2011 has been one of the driest for decades and the stream in Carding  Mill Valley has shrunk to a trickle. Chairman Jon Cooke said “we have been warning that one of the effects of climate change in  England is likely to be the drying up of water-courses, with even the River Severn drying up in summer, but this is rather earlier than we had hoped.

Watch this space for more information

It is still possible that we could have a lot of rain before the 28th of May, and we advise all ducks and would be spectators to watch out for further information. At the moment, we’re still hoping to go ahead eggsactly as planned.”

So watch this space… and pray for rain!
