Your turn next! Leonard DiCaprio’s moving film “Before the Flood’ has been called ‘the most significant film since An Inconvenient Truth’. Watch it below (it’s 90 minutes long) and decide for yourself. We’d be interested in your comments, although those that accompany the YouTube version of this film seem mainly personal abuse aimed at no-one in particular.
“Try to talk to anyone about climate change and people just tune out…If they knew how I felt..how pessimistic I am about the future…They might have picked the wrong guy [to be UN messenger of peace on climate change].” As DiCaprio expresses this frustration, a montage plays of clips showing his media critics attacking him for his lack of scientific credentials and celebrity lifestyle. But in this surprisingly personal, revealing documentary, DiCaprio uses his celebrity status to access people across the world, shares his self-doubt and his pessimism with us, but leaves us with a way forward. Deniers won’t be swayed. But you already knew that. The important thing is that we keep plugging away. And this film helps.
