Founder member of Stretton Climate Care Geoff Hamby died on Friday 9th January 2009. He was 59.
As our first vice-chairman, Geoff was inspirational in shaping a brand new charity and giving it focus and direction. He brought his considerable skills as an economic analyst and social researcher to the tasks involved in creating Stretton Climate Care, providing robust and comprehensive background information that helped us decide priorities and obtain grant aid for our work. Despite the progression of his illness he carried on giving us help, advice and assistance right up to the end.
Geoff leaves behind his beloved wife Mary, his children Tom and Beth, a grandson Wilf and hundreds of friends whose life he enriched. The world is poorer for his passing.

I feel it an honour to have known Geoff, all be it for a short time. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him - his courage over the past few months was an inspiration to us all.

It was indeed a privilege to have known Geoff. He was a man with a great sense of humour and I will miss our exchanges of abuse. Although there was no real abuse on either side - it was just good natured fun.

Thank you Geoff. Your good nature, your generous spirit and your insights into the mysteries of Microsoft Excel (!) will be sorely missed. Its was lovely to have had to opportunity to know you and sad that it was so short.
