We are not adequately prepared
Government advisors have today warned that Climate Change could have a domino effect on key infrastructure. The Climate Change Committee warns that the U.K. is not prepared for the risks posed to gas, electricity and IT connections when flooding destroys bridges. Neither are we adequately prepared for changing coast lines, water shortages, damage to eco systems, heatwaves and shocks to global food systems. The projections are based on the supposition that the Government will keep promises to cut emissions – we hope this pledge will be kept but we see little evidence so far that carbon emissions will be reduced to the levels needed.

Here's a real challenge for the new Prime Minister! Will she lead a government committed to meeting the challenges of climate change? This report shows that not only do we have to cut emissions, but also, because of the amount of greenhouse gases already in the atmosphere, we will need to spend significant amounts of money to deal with the consequences anyway.

Still waiting to see how firm the new cabinet will be on keeping carbon reduction promises.
