e.v. poster v 1 2016As usual, our EV day will have a wide range of the latest and the old faithful Electric cars on show, with people who know what they are really like to tell you about them, and the chance to have a trip round the block in some of them.

Sadly no fuel cell cars (see below) but the following are confirmed for our E.V. Day …

Nissan Leaf (of Course!)2016-02-03 16.14.02

We are also expecting a Toyota Prius .

Sadly Hyundai couldn’t obtain any hydrogen to fuel the ix 35 and Toyota have just let us know the Miria is not coming either. Disappointment, especially as we were assured both these fuel cell cars were available. Perhaps this latest technology is not quite ready yet – certainly there are very few refueling points around.

We are grateful to Greenhous, J T Hughes, Rybrook BMW  and W R Davies dealerships for supporting the event and bringing the above vehicles. Their sales staff will be on hand to give details of their cars.  Follow our website for any last minute changes to the line up. We are also grateful to owners of a range of electric cars who will be offering short demonstration rides on the day…. i3, Leaf, Zoe, Tesla S and some of the dealers cars will also be offering demonstration rides.

Church Stretton is a great place to spend that day at. Plenty of choice for eating and some super independent shops to explore  … and of course our very own e.v. charging point.

Contact us if you would like to be part of this event. Space is limited, and we cannot guarantee to provide demonstration space for every vehicle on the market. Volunteers offer ‘trips around the block’ in Nissan Leaf, BMW i3, Mitsubishi Outlander and other popular models

BMW have just announced a new battery for the i3, increasing the range by 50%. Better still it can be fitted to existing i3's, though at what cost I don't yet know. With the Rex version and a full tank, that puts the theoretical range up to 195 miles. Have to see if we can get the longer range i3 at our E.V. Day in Sptember. We also hope to have a series 3 plug in hybrid on show.

We have a longer range Leaf coming, but - just like the longer range BMW i3 - it looks exactly the same! And as our trips round the block are only two or three miles, there will need to be an awful lot of trippers before the extended range of either becomes a brag opportunity...

Comment on our e.v. day. Thanks for the tremendous support from our members and lots and lots of visitors. Thanks also to BMW, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Renault and Toyota dealers who brought their latest electric vehicles along. Interest in e.v's is really taking off. Sales nationally are rapidly increasing. Makes sense really. Many of our car journeys are well under the battery range of most makes and at between 2 - 3p per mile it makes economic sense. Even better it makes environmental sense as transport is responsible for so much Co2 emissions. We should all be working towards zero carbon transport. Go electric!!!

Thanks to all those e.v. owners who willingly brought their cars along to give free demonstration rides to the public at our e.v. day. Such taster trips are a really good way to sell the virtues of electric cars. There were rides in a Tesla S, Nissan Leaf, Renault Zoe, BMW i3, BMW 330e, BMW i8, the Mitsubishi Outlander and Toyota Prius. We've even been asked for some more rides from someone who couldn't come on the day. Happy to oblige!!
