We publish a Newsletter every few months to keep you up to date with what we’ve been doing, our future plans and what’s happening in Church Stretton and further afield. Stretton Climate Care Responses to national and local plans
Shropshire Council draft Local Cycling and Walking Implementation Plan
Residents in the Strettons and surrounding villages and hamlets were invited to give feedback on the Shropshire draft Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP). The draft Plan puts forward proposals for each of the seven Shropshire market towns. You can read the full reports for each town, together with the Guiding Principles and an overall summary.
Stretton Climate Care ran two relevant events – a workshop to draw up with our local community a response to the draft Plan and a presentation on 20’s Plenty from David Currant of SSCA/Ludlow21.
SCC formal response to the consultation. Having listened to and discussed with those present at the events, our Secretary, Mike Hymas, who, many years ago, had responsibility for highways and transport issues in Shropshire finalised the Local Cycling and Walking Plan Response Stretton Climate Care 05 06 2023.
20’s Plenty. This national campaign proposes the adoption of 20 miles per hour on most roads within the town. If this were to be introduced, it would result in a reduction in casualties and in particular result in most casualties being only minor injuries. It would also encourage cycling and walking as the fear of becoming a casualty will be reduced.
